 Hi!

I´m finally able to prove that I did not, in fact, cease to exist. It´s just the fact that we had exams season. Exams never caused me any frustrations, due to the fact that I was unapologetical nerd during both elementary and high school. It just felt like the informations are coming to me on their own. It was similar during first two semsters of college too, but oh boy.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I spent first few weeks of semester in Paris, or that I didn´t go to lectures that much, but I felt like climbing a mountain before almost every exam. For the first time in my life, I came close to academical all nighters and to make things worse, I´m still haunted by dreams of failing and being kicked out of school (×﹏×).
And it´s only worse, because when I don´t dream of failing at school, I dream of failing at work. Today, I dreamt of sucking at a bartending gig I left SIX MONTHS AGO.

Anyway. In 9 days, I´m visting Amsterdam with my sister (Flixbus had 1+1 ticket Valentine deal), and next month, we´are visiting my favourite city, London. My sisters best friend is a fan of unusual plushies, so she wanted to visit Jellycat flagstore and fetch her a gift.
She wanted to hype me up a little bit, so she showed me their best product. The only thing I really need. Something that I should have known sooner.

Timmy is a turtle, a very grumpy one. That´s something so irresistible for me. I already have an army of turtle plushies, I always wanted a breathing one too, but I don´t even have a real home right now, so I couldn´t subject any alive, intelligent form of life to that.
Also, pet turtles are expensive. And so is Timmy, but do I care?

"Timmy Turtle needs a friend to cheer him up – or someone to have a good grumble with! This soft, sturdy guy has a green textured shell, embroidered fudge fur and squeezable feet. Don't be fooled by the face – Timmy gives surprisingly good hugs!"
- rather charming introductions from https://eu.jellycat.com/

If you feel unsure about bare, naked Timmy, wait till you see his cute little outfits.

There is something so british about these two Timmys. They look like extras from Hercule Poirot episodes. Tell me that doesn´t bring you any happiness.

Of course, you might argue, those doesn´t seem like the most practical purchases. Jellycat has your back - and bag too. I´m saving money for Timmy bag.

Does it suit my style? Not at all. But it makes me feel as if all those hours at work were worth it, somehow. Also, at least according to Reddit, a lot can fit there. There is also a key chain Timmy, and I would absolutely get him too, if I didn´t feel like my financional state would never recover.

I hope I will be able to get the bag at one of my trips!

Other than those capitalistic cravings, I´m quite well. I´m working on another film with my friend, once again as a producer. More people are coming to me for their projects, and it´s a great feeling. On the other hand, there´s a lot of stress, too.
Tomorrow school starts again, and I will need to let my higher ups know that I´m finished at the cheese shop I´m working at right now. For some reason, they have the worst clientelle and one of the worst managers I have ever met.

Pro tip - if almost none of your part time workers sticks around for more that two months, maybe it´s because your store manager sucks. If you´re the store manager in question, try not sending threating passive agressive texts well ouside working hours. Or days after the workers last shift, when they already feel safe.

See you next ime!

  Hii!
Would you believe I have never had fake nails before? In my 21 years, I survived on nail polish. That changed when I first saw the cute little box in Sinsay. The line was long (it´s Advent, after all), but I had to stand throught it anyway, so I didn´t hesitate.

I didn´t really think either.

It doesn´t look that way, but they are at least half as long as my fingers. I realized that the moment I applied the first one on my little finger. Sadly, I had only one hour before Secret Santa with my friends (we have been hanging out since elementary school, isn´t that wild?) so I just rolled with it.
I definitely struggled, but they hold surprisingly well. Maybe too well - I will be probably unable to properly function at least for a week.

Next time, I will try gel instead.

There have been unhealthy amount of Christmas parties lately, but I got through all of them. Even though I don´t have any cute photo (T_T). On one of them, my... classmate? Friend? Idk. Chatted with me and my friend Zay, and suddenly was like: "Well, I´m going to talk to attractive women now." And left.
He came back later and did not know why we were so pissed.
Well, at least no one tried to compare our boobs this time. (There is a lot of weird lore).

I´m mainly happy to be home and just chill alone at the sofa.
What about you? How did you get through advent?

Hi! (*^‿^*)

I got a big stash of yarn for Christmas, and as soon as I saw the kilometers of black wool, I knew I will finally make myself the 60s dress I have been dreaming about, but couldn´t find anywhere. I started looking for patterns, and wouldn´t you know? I found one for free.

The dress laying flat

I didn´t have much info for the pattern, just one scan and strong will. Luckily, Ravelry was there to help me. This dress proved to be popular here, so I could read about other people´s experiences with the pattern. I found out that I have wrong metrage, so I opted to crochet with smaller hook.
I have been crocheting since about 10 years old, so I was pretty confident in pattern alternations.

The dress, worn by me

Well, that may have not been the best idea. This dress took me more than 6 months to finish. It was partly due to wrong metrage, wrong size hook and the fact that I had to do some parts more times, but also due to lack of motivation at some points.
I really wanted to wear this when we had a garden party in my old high school. That was in May. Finishing this dress did not happen at the time, even though I only had to finish sleeves at that point.
I also wasn´t sure how will this dress fit me, as I went up and down two sizes while working on this project. Oh, sweet freshman 10. Luckily, I´m mostly back to my former size. I also added corset lacing to the back, but I didn´t get to add the lace yet.

I feel like it´s last few rows that always take the longest, at least I keep telling myself this to feel better.

And now few oh-so-dramatic, oh-so-goth photos (I blinked the first time, something startled me on the third one but the second is on purpose :D.)

Silly Poses, 3rd

I went for my natural (goth) way while styling this dress, but I want to do some more 60s inspired looks too. I have been pretty keen of Medieval Revival fashion of the era since summer.

So, what did I learn during this project? Next time, I will respect yarnage and hook size.

What was your biggest DIY project up to date? And how long did it take you?
